Yorkshire Legal Awards 2021 (7th October 2021): The Yorkshire Legal Awards brings together the region's legal community to recognise and celebrate its many achievements.
Stewarts Law is the UK's largest litigation only law firm, that acts for corporate and individual clients in high-value and complex disputes.

Family Law Award - Finalist
This family law team at Stewarts focuses exclusively on acting in high value and complex matters for local, national, and overseas High Net Worth (HNW) individuals.

Rehabilitation Initiative of the Year - Shortlisted

This ground-breaking rehabilitation facility that helps catastropically injured clients has been undeterred by the significant operational difficulties arising because of the pandemic and over the past 12 months has still introduced severl market-leading rehabilitation initiatives.
Already known for their holistic approach to rehabilitation care for people recovering from complex trauma, brain and spinal cord injury, the pioneering facility has been rubbing shoulders with tech innovators in Singapore and Switzerland to become the first place in the UK to provide clients with access to the latest in world-class robotic and VR technology. They’ve also launched STEPS Training School, that teaches new care teams about a client’s condition and care regime to ensure a smooth transition home when they leave STEPS.

Marketing Campaign of the Year - Finalist
As a niche marketing and PR consultancy, Scala work almost exclusively in the injury law sector, Scala has been involved in multiple prodigious initiatives that are worthy of recognition. Their ’birds-eye-view’ enables them to punch above their weight to deliver a genuinely bespoke and highly personalised service that emboldens client brands and creates commercial opportunities. They work nationally and are applauded by clients for their unrivalled understanding and practical approach .
In the last 12 months, Scala have created a number of campaigns for our clients, including:
Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust Maternity Scandal - Switalskis Solicitors
The sustained PR campaign over the past 4 years has helped to reveal the maternity scandal and bring justice for multiple families.
Significant national and regional PR coverage (including BBC, ITV, Sky, Radio 4, The Independent, Victoria Derbyshire), all secured and managed by Scala, resulted in around 40 other parents coming forward with equally harrowing experiences.
Crossbow Campaign - Ison Harrison
Scala were instructed to provide PR support to the Inquest team and client, Laura Sugden, whose partner, Shane Gilmer, was attacked and killed by a crossbow.
Scala secured significant local and national media coverage, most notably, a television interview on ‘This Morning’. This was a pivotal moment in the campaign gaining momentum. An online petition has over 40,000 signatures and the support of the Shadow Home Secretary.
Scala provided media liaison support throughout the Inquest and attended at the conclusion to write Laura’s press statement which included an announcement about the campaign. Scala prepared the campaign document – Shanes Law – which highlights current crossbow laws, their inadequacies, and calls for regulation to be brought in line with firearms laws. This comprehensive document also included an extensive list of previous crossbow incidents.
PR Training
Launched a PR Training course in partnership with former BBC News Journalist, Charlotte Leeming. The course helps lawyers and law firms unlock the PR potential of their cases, and use PR to raise the firm’s visibility and brand recognition.

Julie Bembridge - 100 Miles for Stan
ITV Calendar Fundraiser of the Year - Nominated
Sheffield mum, Julie Bembridge, ran a staggering continuous 100-mile ultra-marathon, in a bid to raise money for the refurbishment of Ward 6 at the Sheffield Children’s Hospital.
Julies incredible running challenge began on Friday 23rd July 2021, and she completed the ultramarathon, in just 25 hours and 15 minutes. She was welcomed back to the Sheffield Children’s Hospital by a crowd of supporters singing ‘Happy Birthday’ (it was also Julie’s 51st birthday on Saturday!) and of course, by her very proud son, Stan.
The 100-mile route began and ended at Sheffield Children’s Hospital, heading out to Dronfield, onto the circular Chesterfield round route which crosses through town, before heading back to Dronfield and joining the Sheffield Way and making her way back up to the hospital via Woodseats.
So far, Julie has raised an incredible £24,944 for The Children’s Hospital Charity.
