Scala is an award-winning PR and marketing communications consultancy specialising in legal, healthcare and professional services. Since 2009 we've built a reputation for sensitive, high-impact campaigns, from the Nottingham, Leeds and Sussex Maternity Scandals, triggering independent reviews led by Donna Ockenden, to supporting the survivors and families of the Nottingham Attack, as well as campaigns aiming to change the law or raise public awareness. Our clients include some of the country's best-known law firms, and our work regularly features across BBC, ITV, Sky and the national press.

We're looking for a Senior PR Executive to join our Sheffield team and support delivery across our legal and professional services accounts. You'll work closely with our Managing Director and our PR team on media relations, content drafting and campaign delivery for high-profile, often sensitive, cases.

Key responsibilities

• Drafting press releases, media briefing notes, key messages and comment for legal and professional services clients
• Building and maintaining media lists, and identifying journalist relationships by sector and region
• Circulating releases, managing press enquiries and coordinating interview arrangements and scheduling
• Supporting sensitive, case-led campaigns with discretion, accuracy and care, including anonymised or statement-only coverage where required
• Monitoring coverage, collating results and contributing to client reporting and analytics
• Spotting proactive and reactive commentary opportunities, including breaking news and legal or policy developments
• Assisting with award submissions, tenders and directory entries
• Working closely with the Managing Director and Client Director across live campaigns, with support from the wider junior team

About you

• At least three years' experience as a PR Executive or Journalist
• Strong writing skills, with the ability to turn complex or sensitive information into clear, accurate copy
• Legal PR experience is preferable, but we're equally interested in journalists with a background in public policy or legal stories who want to move into PR
• Confident building relationships with journalists and handling press enquiries under time pressure
• A sensitive, empathetic approach, comfortable working on emotive or high-stakes stories
• Well organised, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage several live accounts at once
• A genuine interest in the legal sector and current affairs
• Full driving licence
