Scala

Foreword by Natalie Rodgers, Managing Director of Scala.

No end to the year is complete without the obligatory Round Up! 2019 has been a busy year for us, not only did we turn 10 years old, we also secured new client work and even managed a little award win for ourselves to boot!

We feel very fortunate that the work we do for clients is varied and professionally rewarding. However, one thing connects all aspects of our work…our passion for storytelling.

Storytelling finds its way into every aspect of your marketing strategy. Whether it’s your website news page, a social media campaign or media release, compelling storytelling around your services enables you to humanise your firm, making it more attractive to clients.

Thank you to all our clients and industry professionals for your continued support….as a small business we value every one of our working relationships.

On Health

We kicked off 2019 handling the PR for the opening of ‘On Health’, an obesity clinic based in Heaton, Newcastle. Not only did we need to promote the brand-new facility, but also spread the word that there were 100 free places being made available to people living in the most deprived areas of the North East.

Along with several local radio interviews, including BBC Radio Newcastle, we secured a 7-hour ‘Live’ broadcast by Sky Sunrise from the newly opened facility. The Sky OB team filmed live from On Health’s clinic as part of their special report entitled: ‘Should obesity be reclassified as a disease?

Prior to the broadcast, we supported The Sky editors in developing their schedule of people to interview during the programme – ranging from participants, nutritional and psychological experts, as well as the Director of On Health. We prepared interview briefs and co-ordinated the practicalities of conducting a live broadcast from somewhere that isn’t a TV studio!

We were also there on the day to sooth the nerves of TV interview novices and provide media liaison support and social media coverage.

The coverage can be viewed here.

A strong PR campaign can create, maintain and promote a positive image, elevating your brand both locally and nationally.

We have helped several clients secure local and national coverage this year and would be happy to discuss any PR requirements for 2020 with you.

SHU Law

In February, we assisted with the launch of a brand-new Sheffield law firm – SHU Law. The firm was conceived and established to provide law students at Sheffield Hallam University with real life work experience as part of their degree. As a fully regulated, not-for-profit law firm, they were also established as part of the University’s commitment to improving social justice.

Around 750 law students will pass through SHU Law during the lifespan of their degree course, gaining a strong grounding in the practicalities of working in a law firm, along with an understanding of what it means to deliver legal advice and support to those in society who may otherwise go unrepresented.

Prior to the official launch, we worked closely with the team at SHU Law to develop a brand concept to use across all platforms, including their website, which we developed in collaboration with Aimee from madebyaim. As the launch date approached, we wrote and circulated a media release to local, legal and higher education publications about the new firm; securing a radio interview with BBC Radio Sheffield for the founder, Professor Elizabeth Smart. We also attended the inaugural lecture along with guests from the local legal community, academics and press to provide social media support.

SHU1-143

Following the launch, we have been retained by SHU Law to provide marketing support to help establish their brand during the early stages. Our services include strategic marketing advice, PR, social media management, website management, content creation, pay per click advertising and award submission writing.

Parklane Plowden

In 2019, Parklane Plowden Chambers were shortlisted for several prestigious industry awards, including the British Claims Awards, Yorkshire Legal Awards, and the Personal Injury Awards.  They were crowned ‘Regional Set of the Year’ by the Legal 500 Bar Awards and won ‘In-House Finance Team of the Year’ at the 2019 Yorkshire Accountancy Awards for the work done by their finance team.

Jenny & Martin

2019 has been an industrious year of events, seminars and conferences for Parklane Plowden…. keeping Scala nice and busy! Throughout the year, we have assisted with the marketing and management of 5 key conferences for several of their teams.

One particularly highlight was the work we did in assisting with the design, organisation and event management of the hugely successful Annual Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence Conference. From the outset we recognised the opportunity to design a unique conference programme that deviated from the one traditionally run by Chambers. We also saw the opportunity to involve Scala clients, STEPS Rehabilitation, to draw on the increasingly collaborative approach being taken by those working in the injury law sector.

Through our work with STEPS, we’d already got to know one of their tetraplegic clients – Dr Ed Hudson – who agreed to be involved in the conference. Ed ended up being the star of the day when he delivered a hugely emotional talk about his accident, injuries and rehabilitation journey. He wowed delegates with his live demonstration of an exoskeleton suit, rounding off the day which one delegate described as “an exceptional conference.”

If you have any upcoming conferences and need any help organising them, contact us. We handle the venue liaison and management, as well as design and produce flyers and invitations that we can use to advertise the event across social media channels.

Morgan Jones Pett

Earlier this year, and as part of a wider marketing and advertising strategy, Morgan Jones Pett launched their new Radio advert on Heart Radio which you can listen to here.

We were also delighted for the firm when, following the written submissions we made, received recognition in both major legal directories for the first time.

They were recommended in the Legal 500 United Kingdom 2020 in two practice areas: Insurance – Clinical negligence [Claimant], and Insurance – Personal injury [Claimant].

Solicitor and Director David Jones was also listed in the elite “Leading Lawyers” list in the Legal 500 United Kingdoms 2020’s guide to outstanding lawyers nationwide, and all three of the lawyers at the firm, David, Sara and Simon were recommended in the Legal 500 United Kingdom 2020 edition. Most recently have been shortlisted in the category ‘Insurance: Firm of the Year (outside London) in the Legal 500 UK Awards 2020

The firm was also ranked in the same practice areas in the Chambers and Partners 2020 edition.

STEPS Rehabilitation

STEPS Rehabilitation have had another incredible year and we have continued to work with them to build a national reputation for delivering high-quality, multi-disciplinary rehabilitation care to clients from across the UK and abroad.

This year STEPS have continued their run of industry award wins and shortlisting’s; helping to boost their presence in key sectors and build brand recognition.  They were shortlisted at both the Medilink North of England Healthcare Business Awards and the CMSUK Awards 2019. For the second consecutive year, in November they won ‘Rehab Provider of the Year’ Award at the prestigious Personal Injury Awards.

The severely injured and ill people that STEPS Rehabilitation help never fail to amaze and inspire us. We love working with STEPS to promote their incredible work helping clients to achieve their full potential following a life-changing injury. Being able to share the amazing success stories coming out of STEPS Rehabilitation is a huge privilege.

Below are just a few of the most recent case studies:

We are retained by STEPS to help them with all things marketing! This year we’ve helped them to launch a new website which prominently features a new marketing video. We collaborated with Joe from Whistle Video to create a quality video that captures the essence of the facility, you can view the video here. We helped with concept and interviewed the clients that feature in the video. We also coached (a very nervous) Jules Leahy, Director of STEPS Rehabilitation, with her interview providing guidance on what to say in order to communicate key marketing messages.

Contact us if you’re interested in video marketing campaigns to see how we can help.
