Natalie Rodgers

Managing Director

Natalie is a Chartered Marketer, non-practising solicitor and Member of the Chartered Institute of PR. In 2015 she was a finalist for Business Development Professional of the Year at the Modern Law Awards. In 2016 Scala was shortlisted for Supporting the Industry 1-10 at the Personal Injury Awards – the winner will be announced at a ceremony in November 2016.

Prior to establishing Scala in 2009, she practised as a solicitor at global law firm DLA Piper before becoming the first Marketing Director for a leading barristers’ Chambers based in the North of the UK.

She combines her expertise as a lawyer and marketer to advise law firms, barristers’ Chambers and other organisations who work in the legal and professional services arena. Natalie has a large network of professional contacts and often uses these connections to the benefit of her clients by effecting professional introductions.

She is on the Executive Management Board of Parklane Plowden Chambers and is a keen ‘Tweegal’ [Legal Tweeter] @Natalie_Scala. She has published a number of feature articles that have appeared in leading industry magazines, online publications and newspapers.

Natalie presents seminars on a range of marketing and business development topics including ‘Blog writing for lawyers’, ‘Marketing Planning’ and ‘Social Media’.

What she is particularly good at:
Forming strong working relationships which allow her to get to the crux of an issue and deliver a solution.

Proudest career moment:

PR management in the case of a wheelchair user – Doug Paulley – in his disability discrimination case against First Bus Group PLC which she oversaw from County Court, all the way to the Supreme Court. Doug’s case challenged the bus company’s ‘First Come First Served’ policy in relation to the wheelchair spaces on buses. The case was headline news on the BBC on several occasions and received significant coverage on TV, newspaper publications and on-line.

Carly Cotton

Marketing Assistant

Carly is the glue that keeps key client projects together! Highly efficient and organised, she works closely with Natalie delivering a broad range of marketing activities with a focus on PR and social media marketing.

Carly has a 2:1 BA Hons degree in Sociology from Sheffield University which comes in very handy.

What she is particularly good at:

Event management and negotiating favourable rates with venues!

Proudest career moment:
Selling out of £500 worth of charity raffle tickets to raise money at CBIT in a record-breaking 30 minutes at Parklane Plowden Chambers Summer Party!
